Sonal Nalkur


Sonal Nalkur is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Sociology at Emory University. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Emory University and MAs from Stanford and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Nalkur teaches courses on creativity, culture, criminology, and organizations, with a focus on reimagining the classroom as a site of transformation ground in scholarly texts and questions.

She is especially drawn to pedagogical approaches that enliven the classroom and embolden independent thinking—inviting students to think imaginatively, build authentic communities, and practice creative problem solving that extends beyond the university.
